Description
TransOcean - The Shipping Company (TransOcean) was developed by Deck13 Hamburg, a German studio who are a part of the Deck13 family. TransOcean features over 50 harbours and the player may choose to dock or cast off by hand at all of these locations. The game also features over 20 ship classes and a vast array of different goods.TransOcean - The Shipping Company is available for purchase on PC and Mac from several distribution services, including Steam.GameplayTransOcean's central gameplay mechanics are built around managing multiple cargo ships transporting their cargo around the globe. When these ships dock or cast off, you have the ability to do so either manually or automatically.Main GameplayThe overview. Most of the player's time is going to be spent on the overview. This screen displays a world map and your company's ships as well as the various harbours accessible for trading.First a contract for a certain amount of cargo to be transported between two harbours is picked, then the player selects one or several ships suitable for the task and directs these ships by managing their speed and the weight of their cargo. The player will also have to take action when certain events occur such as typhoons, pirate raids and customs checks. They customs checks are a potential issue because the player may choose to transport cargo in ships inadequate of doing so.While the ships are docked, the payer will have to perform various maintenance on the ships. This may seem like an easy enough task, but having ships docked for longer periods of time is inadvisable as there is a daily cost associated with it. Thus this is a balancing act between using half-repaired ships which will decrease your reputation as well as having the potential of breaking and having fully repaired ships which are very expensive to keep repaired at all times.Driving GameplayThe docking minigame. When a ship is ready to dock or cast off, the player may opt do so manually. While this option is available at all times, it is rather more of a minigame as opposed to a central gameplay mechanic. That being said, manual docking is a requirement in the beginning of the game as the automatic docking procedure costs money while the manual one is free.
